[Sales Development Workshop] The trainer was able to present the complex topic of Sales in simple terms, making it appealing to both knowledgeable and not-so-knowledgeable members of the audience. I also appreciated the opportunity to intervene and ask questions, to which I received well-informed answers.
The workshop helped me to refresh some of the basic elements of sales, as it is easy to pick up bad habits and cut corners. Remembering the importance of following a system has allowed me to overcome some difficult sales situations in recent weeks. I am really pleased I attended this workshop.![]()

[Sales Masterclass with Heather Wright] I was delighted by Heather's professionalism and by the fact that I wasn't offered a 'text-book’ lecture, but given practical information from someone who works in the field.
Heather is obviously a very good sales person herself and she helped me refresh some of the basic techniques I need to use every day: identify a need, create a gap and complement my discourse with appropriate body language and tonality.
The training also taught me the importance of 'getting my foot in the door’ and getting rid of the pervasive 'I’ll speak to you shortly.’ This week I’ve had the chance to apply one of the techniques presented: ‘the trial basis’ with successful results - continuing the work on a project with one of our clients. I am truly content I’ve attended this workshop.![]()

[Effective Time & Priority Management]
I attended the Time Management course at the Chamber of Commerce as I am required to handle a large and varied workload and I wanted to ensure that I am productive throughout my day.
The course has benefited me as I was new to the role and could implement the strategies immediately. The tutor helped the group to identify areas where we lost time each day and how we can manage this. For instance; over checking emails, unnecessary discussions in the workplace, and not planning effectively. I now set my out of office email to prevent me from being distracted, I use to-do lists and block my diary out. I have also created a weekly planner of how to spend my time wisely.
The course gave me a lot of good ideas to bring to the workplace and through the Continuing Development For Young People project I was able to undergo the training free of charge.![]()

[Presenting Masterclass]
As someone who has never worked in a sales role before, I enrolled in the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce sales and presenting skills training workshops. Both workshops involved experts with years of experience in the fields of sales and presentation, who gave full-day workshops that focused on our individual strengths and weaknesses.
From this, these experts were able to impart useful knowledge and skill sets that I have utilised to increase the turnover of Crowberry Consulting and more importantly, to secure my role within the company. Perhaps the biggest benefit resultant from the workshops is the greater level of confidence in my skills when fulfilling my sales and presenting roles.![]()

[CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Purchasing & Supply] I cannot speak highly enough of Reg and of the CIPS course material provided through East Lancashire. I studied Level 4 CIPS at a local college and found that the tutors were 'going through the motions' with students and basically reading from the books and not allowing much group interaction. I managed to pass Level 4 but only just!!
I could not believe how much I learnt in the first CIPS lesson I had with Reg and how fast the time went. His use of past papers, constant class interaction, positive attitude and humourous stories of his past purchasing experiences make for an always enjoyable lesson.
I passed every unit at Level 5 and increased my grades by at least 10%. I even obtained a distinction!!
I look forward to completing Level 6 CIPS this year and all of it would not have been possible without the excellent tutorship from Reg and the support from East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.![]()

[Sales Masterclass with Heather Wright]
APPRAISAL OF SALES MASTERCLASS
From Heather Wright's “Sales Masterclass one day course”, we gained better understanding of what our company needs from us with our involvement in the sales department. From this course we began by introducing ourselves individually and introduced who we were and what we wanted from the course. Our needs were then written down and referred to throughout the course, without us knowing that the techniques we would be taught were being use on us to her advantage.
The four main points that were important to us:
1. Confidence
2. Structure
3. What to say and what not to say (including asking open question to customers)
4. How to deal with objections (phone calls and face to face)
We applied four areas individually by practicing with groups of 2/3 and worked with people we didn’t know, this built our confidence and network. This meant that we could then put into action in our workplace in the future.
Some points that we thought were valuable to us were:
1. Participating in various activities to take part in, such as flip cards to identify the features, advantages and benefits of the product on the card. The lecturer advised that the sales guys would then use the benefits to match the solution the customer requested.
2. It was useful to have focus points, an activity, learning points and then top tips with multiple quotations from famous authors. We also felt we learnt from the other participants of the course as we all put in our own ideas, which were unique as the different business’ have had diverse experiences.
3. An activity we spent a lot of time on was the task of using open questions rather than closed to make the customer talk for 70% of the time, while the sales representative will listen for 30%.
4. The way we were given examples of the way being honest could benefit the company in the long run. Honesty equals to Trust results to Relationship with our customers.
5. Also Trust equals to Kindness resulting to Helpfulness. Research showed that Customers generally return to a helpful service.
Heather used her own buying experience to the course which demonstrated the way we would apply in our own businesses. Overall, we really recommend the course and we will be applying the skills we learnt to our jobs in the future.

[CIPS training testimonial from Sheffield City Council]
Hello Christine, hope you are well.
Work's particularly busy at the moment, however I'm aware that as student representative I haven't given you feedback since our last discussion in May regarding material.
The revised format for the material is fantastic, your idea of collating past papers etc has made such a difference to the students. This format has also eliminated the "shuffling" of papers during lessons.
Currently I can only describe the mood of students as "elated" which isn't surprising given the outstanding 100% pass rate for the March exams. As you are aware some of the students can still recall how life was with another provider / trainer when the exam results was commiseration not celebration. Following the continued success rates the group is forward looking to level 6.
I also need to mention whilst discussing exam results that the continuity of the invigilators on the day of the exam has helped the group, Linda in particular brings a professional and calming approach.
Given the pass rates its no surprise that Reg is rated extremely highly with the students, comments from students include " I couldn’t have got this far without your support. I've also been present when the level 6 students have passed onto Reg their thanks.
The high level of training continues, last Friday's training was outstanding, the majority of the session was case study work. As you are aware many of the students have worked in the purchasing environment for a number of years. However Reg's vast experience in Supply Chain experience gave the lesson that extra dimension and understanding for students. From the student's perspective Reg made the case studies "come alive".
No doubt will speak soon,
Regards

[Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel] Just wanted to say thank you for the excellent Microsoft Word/Excel training course at Red Rose Court. Caroline Coleman was an excellent teacher. Very easy to understand with lots of patience. I am taking a Learn Direct e-course in Word Intermediate and this course was perfect as it went further into what I am learning. I very much enjoyed lunch and it was nice to have coffee etc, when you wanted it. And the cookies for break time were the Cadbury ones that were chocolate covered. Everyone was impressed with them. I also met one of my fellow students who is planning on being a Mental Health Nurse (I work for the NHS in Admin for Lancashire Care) and it was so nice to talk to someone who speaks the same language that I do work-wise. We also knew people in the same profession and it was nice to talk about what I do when I'm actually employed. Please keep me in mind, if anything like this comes up again. I guess the upside of being unemployed at the present moment, is that I was able to do this wonderful course. Again, thank you.![]()

I am writing to recommend the services of the East Lancs Chamber of Commerce (ELCC) in relation to the provision of the CIPS full training programme.
I have over 20 students now undertaking the programme using the ELCC tutors and the success rate so far has been exemplary at over 95% with excellent marks attained in exams.
Liaising and working with colleagues at ELCC has been a lesson in professionalism and we have established a very good working relationship which has resulted in mutual respect for the issues that can effect the delivery of a complex programme of study such as the graduate membership route for CIPS.
The exams are taken here in Sheffield, which has been ideal for the students involved who are working full time for the authority and often have family and home commitments to take on board. ELCC have been very supportive of their requirements and needs with an example being the handling of one student who has dyslexia and was therefore extremely worried about the exam.
I have no qualms about recommending ELCC as providers of the CIPS programme and in testimony to their ability we have students on the programme travelling from Leeds to be part of the provision.![]()
