  • Appreciate the qualities, skills and behaviours of effective telephone sales people
  • Recognise the limitations of the telephone
  • Recognise the importance of planning and preparation
  • Turn cold calls into 'positive first meetings'
  • Be aware of different ways to open the call
  • Make appointments effectively getting through to the decision maker
  • Analyse a call and be prepared to sell up (add on), looking constantly for buying signals and ways to add value to the call
  • Be aware of five ways to close the sale
  • Prepare a telephone sales presentation and carry it out following a clearly structured plan
